Federal Nutrition Programs for Grandfamilies and Kinship Families

This three-page resource, created by our subject matter experts at the Food Research & Action Center , is an update of a resource that they previously prepared for our parent organization, Generations United.

The resource provides information to organizations on how federal nutrition programs can help grandfamilies and kinship families with low incomes access healthy meals, food, and resources to buy food. Participating in these programs can help families stretch limited budgets; help children learn, grow, and thrive; and help caregivers be healthy. Legal custody of a grandchild or kin is not needed to participate in the programs.
