We often hear that kinship programs know there are kin caregivers in their community that they are not reaching. Likewise, we have heard many kin caregivers say they were unaware of the services available to them when they began taking care of a relative or close family friend.

In response, the Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network, and its Partners, ZERO TO THREE and the National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, recently hosted a Learning Community for kinship programs on improving outreach strategies and are developing a toolkit for kinship service providers to reach more families.

Explore some of the key takeaways and strategies discussed during the learning community to help you connect with more kinship/grandfamilies, including building trust, partnering with schools, identifying local champions, and developing a social media presence. Learn ways to improve your program’s reach and visibility in your community and serve more families that need support.
